St. James Park

It seems like the lovely weather is here to stay! Yesterday was another sunny day, so me and Andrew decided to go into central London. We got the tube to Green Park and walked past Buckingham Palace to St. James Park, which is the oldest of the Royal Parks of London. I love that park! It's quite small, nowhere near as big as Hyde Park or Regents Park, but it's very pretty.

The park has a small lake with two islands. This is where my favorite residents of this park live - the pelicans. They have been a feature of this park since they were first given as a gift from the Russian ambassador in 1664. I couldn't get any good pictures of them this time since they were all sat on one of the islands, but they're usually quite social and will sit alongside visitors on the benches. One weird thing about them is that they seem to eat pigeons (??!!). There are plenty of videos on youtube of this, google it if you don't believe me!

Summer

Today it really did feel like summer! The air was warm even though it was quite windy, and the sun has been shining all day. I've celebrated this by painting my nails in the most Barbie pink and summery shade I could find.

I also went a bit crazy in Tescos fruit section, and had a fruit party.

For lunch, I decided to make a vegan "pulled pork" BBQ sandwhich. I found the recipe on http://vegoriket.se, I LOVE that blog. He's got so many recipes and they all look really tasty! I thought it would be difficult to cook vegan/vegetarian food, but it really isn't. I cooked this badboy in about 15 minutes (I cheated a bit though as I didn't have all the ingredients for the BBQ sauce, so I didn't make my own). All you need to do is:

1. Chop 1/4 onion and 1 clove of garlic into pieces
2. Fry onion and garlic with soy strips
3. Mix in some BBQ Sauce
4. Put the awesome mix on a ciabatta roll and put some tomatoes and mashed avocado on top

Voilà! You've got yourself a super tasty vegan pulled pork BBQ Sandwich, and no pigs had to die in the process. Everyone is happy!

Saturday

I've spent the day cleaning, washing clothes and finishing (most of) the boring things I have to do this weekend, because tomorrow I want to be outside. It's going to be 18 degrees and sunshine! Haaaallelujah. It sounds too good to be true, but it's not!

So, the plan for tomorrow is:

- Take a long walk to Greenwich park (if my cold isn't getting worse, then a shorter walk will do)
- Food shopping & cooking
- Look into what I need to apply for to get my tuition paid for before I start uni in September, and also check what CSN needs to give me my student grant (before it's too late!)
- Maybe some shopping. Uh oh. I want these shoes badly...

£39.99, Zara

Valentino Rockstud anyone? Only much cheaper, £44.95, Nelly. They come in black too, I can't decide which ones I like the most!

My Sunday in pictures

Sunshine

So, my family is back in Sweden now. It's always fun when they're visiting because they want to go and see new things and places. This means I get to do touristy stuff too, which I normally don't. Andrew and I are usually too lazy to go out on the weekends (I'm planning on changing that though!) and we usually just end up going to Westfield.

I worked on Saturday, which was a shame because the weather was amazing. Sunny, and warm (!!!). It's been sooo cold here for so long now (you probably know already since I keep mentioning it in like..every blog post) so it's nice that it's finally getting warmer. And sunnier.

I was wearing my new mint green jumper (I love pastel colours for spring!) and I also decided to take my new Louis Vuitton Neverfull Azur bag out for a spin for the first time! I bought it in Paris but haven't carried it until now since it's been so dark and cold. It's just been sitting in the dustbag until now, and seeing it again for the first time since february - ahhh I just fell in love with it again! It's such a gorgeous bag! And practical too. I've got the GM size which is the largest (one could argue almost too big, but I thought the MM was too small). I was also lucky to get it just before the price increase, ka-ching!

A day out in Greenwich

Today we got the DLR to Greenwich. I've only been to Greenwich park before (we live within walking distance, so it's nice to walk there when it's sunny outside). Today we checked out the street markets and had a look at the clipper ship Cutty Sark. It's really cold outside, it's hard to believe it's almost April! We were freezing after a couple of hours of walking around, so we decided to finish our little Greenwich trip with hot chocolate and lattes at Starbucks.
